PAST EVENTS
At the Network of Women, we strive to keep our events unique in order to provide our members with new insight into different industries and opportunities available to them. As such, our events change each year. Here are some of our past events.

Shaking Stereotypes, Network of Women's Annual Corporate Cocktails (2020)
Our final event was held in November 2020 and attracted over 40 attendees. This event focussed on pervasive issues women face in various areas of the workforce, and focussed on the experiences of our panellists in their professional journeys. Attendees were later cycled through a series of three breakout rooms to network with representatives of their preference.
Our panellists included Aminata Conteh-Biger from the Aminata Maternal Foundation, Rebecca Isaacs from Macquarie Bank, Katie Tabb from J.P. Morgan Chase, and Adrianne Nixon from Mastercard.

Insights into Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Equities with Credit Suisse (2020)
In November 2020, NOW held a networking event with Credit Suisse. The event provided students with exclusive insights into investment banking, capital markets and equities at Credit Suisse and their upcoming 2021 Winter and Summer Internships. The event involved a panel and two breakout rooms to allow students to interact with Credit Suisse representatives and receive personalised advice on applying for internships. There were 41 sign-ups and positive feedback from students and representatives, making the event a success.

J.P. Morgan Case Competition (2020)
After great success in 2019, NOW held their second Case Competition with J.P.Morgan from September to October 2020. In addition to the competition itself, NOW held an Information Session and Workshop with J.P.Morgan to provide potential participants with further guidance and information. Due to COVID-19, all sessions were delivered online via zoom, including the final presentations.
The Information Session was run by investment bankers from J.P.Morgan, involving a discussion of their daily work, an overview of business areas and their summer internship opportunities. The session garnered over 86 attendees. The Workshop, which included a presentation and Q&A, was held by J.P.Morgan representatives to familiarise the participants with skills that would be useful in the competition and understanding of how the competition would be run. The Workshop attracted over 65 participants.
The Case Competition had 20 registered teams of 2-4 members and, to encourage female participation, a condition of entry required that at least 50% of each team was female. 9 teams were chosen to present their slide deck to J.P.Morgan representatives and the winning team earned an invitation for final-round interviews for their 2021/2022 Sydney Summer Internship Program.

STEMINIST (2020)
In September 2020, NOW held STEMINIST. This event was designed to provide students with key insights into the STEM industry. Due to the constraints of COVID-19, STEMinist was conducted over zoom, including a panel discussion, a Q&A session and three breakout rooms with representatives from Google, Oliver Wyman, IBM and Westpac, Macquarie, Citibank, LEK Consulting and Alphabeta. This gave students the opportunity to network with STEM professionals from a broad range of companies. The event had 42 sign ups and positive feedback from the student and corporate attendees.

Isolation Motivation: Planning for a Career in Management Consulting (2020)
In July 2020, NOW held ‘Isolation Motivation: Planning for a Career in Management Consulting’. This online event was held on zoom and it was designed to help students gain greater understanding of management consulting from our consulting sponsors. It also provided students with the opportunity to develop the skills required to procure internships and graduate roles in the consulting industry from our sponors. The event included a panel, a question and answer session and two breakout rooms, allowing students to network and interact with our sponsor representatives from Oliver Wyman, A.T Kearney, McKinsey & Co. and LEK Consulting. The event had 30 sign ups and it was positively received.

International Womens Day Breakfast (2020)
The International Women’s Day Breakfast is a hallmark event in NOW’s calendar, and this year, it was held at the Establishment Ballroom in collaboration with Capital W (UNSW), Women in Business (UTS and Women Entering Business (MQU).
Members of the esteemed panel shared their insights into workplace advocacy and personal challenges, adding to the discourse of the theme Each for Equal. Panelists included Suzi Jamil, Owner and Director of Think Inc., Australia's leading intellectual touring company, Susan Overall from McKinsey & Company, Mark Davis from Credit Suisse and Meredith Chester from PwC. Following the panel, students networked with advocates and corporate representatives from all four partner universities over a light breakfast and refreshments. There were over 100 students in attendance and more than 50 corporate representatives from a range of business fields who came together to share their diverse perspectives.

Cracking the Code with DXC Technology (2020)
NOW’s first event of 2020 was ‘Cracking the Code with DXC Technology’. This event allowed penultimate and graduate year students to discuss the opportunities available for women in technology and to demystify the misconceptions surrounding the industry.
The event invited five panellists from DXC Technology to the University of Sydney Business School to engage in a panel discussion and networking with students. With over 30 attendees, this also provided an excellent platform for DXC Technology to promote their Graduate Program to NOW members.

Be Your Own Champion Cocktail Event (2019)
This year’s cocktail event centred around women being their own heroes. Members and sponsors joined us for a night of networking, drinks and canapés, featuring an incredible panel of women who shared how they learned to draw their own finish lines, compete against their own personal records and bring home the win for themselves again and again.

Fix Her Crown End of Year Cocktail Event (2018)
Every year, NOW hosts an end of year cocktail event to celebrate another year of NOW at the University of Sydney. Last year, the cocktail event focused on the notion of women supporting women and emphasised that achievements are only accomplished when women work together and empower other women. Once again, this event featured a panel of experienced women in business, along with drinks and canapés throughout the night.

In Her Heels Networking Event (2018)
In Her Heels was a casual networking & panel event in celebration of National Entrepreneurship Day. Presented in collaboration with the Sydney University Women in Engineering (SUWIE) society, In Her Heels featured a panel of entrepreneurs that discussed what it's like to be a female entrepreneur.

International Women's Day Annual Breakfast (2018)
The IWD breakfast is a collaborative event organised in conjunction with the Women in Business societies from universities across Sydney. Every year we hear from diverse panelists who share their insights into the opportunities and challenges facing women and their professional careers. Last year, we heard from representatives from AMP, Saville, OnePath, Macquarie Capital, and Telstra.

Wonder Women: Corporate Cocktails with NOW (2017)
The Network of Women's end of year cocktail event for 2017 was centred around the theme of 'Wonder Women'. The event focused on the accomplishments of four outstanding professional women who have successfully navigated the challenges of competing commitments and maintaining a work-life balance. With representatives from Showpo, IAG, Greshem, and EY, this event provided NOW members with a great variety of unique insight.

International Women's Day Annual Breakfast (2017)
In collaboration with Capital W, UTS Women in Business (WIB) and Macquarie University Women Entering Business (WEB), The Network of Women helped organise another sold out annual breakfast in celebration of International Women’s Day.The theme in 2017 was ‘Take a Stand’. An impressive panel of speakers shared their insights on the progress that has been made and what further actions need to be taken in the advancement of women in the academic, corporate and not-for-profit sphere.
